The White Hill Middle School Band Program offers students the opportunity to participate in both concert and jazz ensembles. Our music department is committed to equip our students with a solid foundation in music education through passion and inspiration. We firmly believe every child deserves the chance to pursue an education in music. We strive to create a positive and loving environment for our children, with the proven philosophy that children thrive when happy and inspired.
The White Hill Concert Band is designed for students learning the basics of playing an instrument or choosing a second instrument. The Concert Band meets 4 days a week during 0 period, with sectionals held on Friday. The Symphonic Band is designed for more advanced musicians who are ready for a higher repertoire of music and deeper level of instruction. The Symphonic Band attends one to two festivals a year.
Our jazz program is also divided into two bands based on skill and experience. Our PM Jazz band meets for 30 minutes, four days a week during 5th period. This class gives students the basic skills and fundamentals to begin their journey in jazz education. Our AM Jazz Band is offered before school, five days a week. This group is our most competitive group, performing at a variety of functions around the Fairfax-San Anselmo community as well as competing at 3 or 4 festivals a year.
